"FERRY" represents a service-boat piling between the two shores of a river or sea creek. But, what is this -Hemen Gupta's 'FERRY' ? What is it about?

It is about a motherless child-RAJU, who is 'eternally being toyed with the bluff that his mother is alive, by his father BIKASH, who is not only a big zamindar of the town but is a school inspector also. The bluff is never recalled and lies are piled upon lies to keep the supertition alive. Armoured with bluff and fortified with hopes the little creature-RAJU keeps on running after each ferry' boat coming to the shore, searching his mother, with lone companion LASSIE-the cannie friend, and playmate MINOO - his solitary sympathizer. In every woman he sees his mother, and in every FERRY touching the shore he expects her. But alas, in vain.

But, one fateful night the 'mother' arrives. Little RAJU beleives it but others belie it, still they dare not tell RAJU. A woman washed ashore is towed in by RAJU and acclaimed as the long lost mother. The `dream MUMMY' meets the 'dream CHILD' both being tied together in great affection. Atlast the bluff becomes the nightmare.

Who is she? A mysterious woman of unknown origin in a house of high repute and traditions right under,  the nose of BIKASH and his AUNTY. Society cannot allow it. World cannot see it.

BIKASH is ina fix. He is on the fence. He feels in his hearts of heart that he too have got `RAJU KI MAA' in that mysterious but innocent woman—but Society is there. The dilemma intensifies. BIKASH and MUMMY as they are .are like two shores of a vast sea—which can mever meet.

.. But they, do through  the medium of their Ferry-RAJU! But ..HOW? See...."FERRY"!
